Huron County Criminal and Civil Records

Huron County criminal records include records for misdemeanor and felony cases in the county courts and Huron County arrest records. The county district courts handle misdemeanor cases and some small claims civil cases under $25,000. These records are available through the District Court Clerk. Civil cases of $25,000, felony cases, and divorce cases are held at the Huron County District Court, and records are available through the County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Division. Probate-related civil cases, such as estates, wills, and their records, are available through the Probate Court Clerk.

Huron County Marriage Records

Huron County marriage records include marriage licenses and marriage certificates. The Huron County Clerk’s Office maintains these documents. A valid photo ID card will be required. Fees are $20 for the first certified copy and $10 for additional copies. The records can also be obtained via mail using the application form and attaching a check or money order payable to the county clerk.

Huron County Divorce Records

Huron County divorce records are available from the Huron County Clerk’s office on non-holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at:

The names of the parties in the divorce and the date of the divorce are required to make a request.

Huron County divorce certificates can also be ordered by mail from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). A mail application should include a photo ID, a fee to the P.O. Box on the application, and a $34 fee for the record.

Huron Birth Records

Huron County birth certificates are available from the Huron County Clerk’s office. Note that Michigan Law restricts access to birth certificates to only those named on the documents, their parents, and legal guardians. A valid state-issued form of identification will be required. Qualified applicants can obtain the records in person at the clerk's office at:

Alternatively, interested parties can obtain the record by requesting it via mail. They can start the process by filling out the request for a certified copy of the birth certificate form and mailing it to the clerk’s office. Fees for certified Huron County birth certificates are $20 for the first certified copy and $10 for additional copies.

Huron County birth certificates are also available through the MDHHS as vital records. Records obtained via mail attract a $34 fee. Mail applications should include a fee to mail the documents back to the applicant.

Birth records have many uses, including proving identity and citizenship. They are also used to apply for a Social Security number, verify military enlistment, make inheritance claims, and enroll children in health insurance.

Huron Death Records

Huron death records, such as death certificates, are available through the Huron County Clerk’s Office and the MDHHS. Anyone can request a death certificate, but the cause of death may be redacted unless a family relationship or legal standing is proven. Huron County Probate Court Records

Huron County probate records are created to administer a person’s property after passing and in cases of guardianships and conservatorships. The Huron County Probate Court maintains these records, which include wills, letters of authority, reports, adoption records, asset inventories, and petitions.
